Why do we collect personal information about you?

This site collects personal information about you for JCB to provide you with information you have requested through the site about JCB products, to supply you with JCB products that you may order through the site and to improve and develop the site for the future.

Additionally, when you are using any of the sub-sections of the site which enables you to review JCB products available to purchase via the independent network of authorised JCB dealers (JCB Dealers) the site also collects personal information about you to pass through to such JCB Dealer for them to process your request.

What Information do we collect and how do we collect it?

JCB collects the following types of personal information about you through your completion of the online forms or checkout process or you otherwise contacting us through [ ] or by phone to our enquiry line or through your completion of any post-sale survey:

  • Forename and surname
  • E-mail address
  • Telephone number
  • Company Name
  • Address (billing address, delivery address)
  • Details of the JCB product you require information on or wish to purchase or have purchased
  • Log-in details (username and password)
  • Feedback and survey responses
  • Preferred dealer when utilising the sub-sections of the site for procurement from a JCB Dealer
  • Your preference regarding receipt of marketing from us

Through the checkout process you will be required to submit your payment information to our payment partner whose system uses SSL encryption. Only the payment partner will have access to your payment information and the will hold it in accordance with Data Protection legislation.

Depending on your settings or the privacy policies for other online services, you may give us permission to obtain information from your account with those other services.  For example, if you’re using the site on your mobile, you may choose to provide us with location data.  The information we obtain from those services does depend on your settings for that service or their privacy policies.  So you should always regularly check what those are.

How do we use the Information about you?

JCB use the information that you give us:

  • to provide you with the JCB products you have ordered

Where you place an order through a JCB Dealer sub-page of the site JCB will also use the information to transfer the order to the JCB Dealer (in which case the JCB Dealer will process the information in accordance with their privacy policy available from the relevant JCB Dealer sub-page of the site). However, JCB may still process the information in accordance with this privacy policy.

How will we contact you?

JCB and its third party service providers (delivery partners, customer survey providers, payment partners) will contact you by post, telephone, email and/or text message depending on the reason for correspondence and only in accordance with this policy.

JCB may contact you with marketing communications by post, telephone, email and/or text message, unless you have told us not to or have registered with the telephone or post preference services.

Who do we provide this information to?

The information is provided to:

  • JCB and the JCB group to benefit you for service support in relation to your JCB products and for improvement of JCB products and services
  • the relevant member of the JCB group who undertakes the marketing for JCB where you purchase products through the site, unless you opt out at the checkout
  • our service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as IT service providers who manage the site and its performance, the delivery partners we use to fulfil orders and our customer survey providers who we use to obtain feedback from customers on our behalf and our marketing fulfilment agencies for any marketing
  • the payment partners to process payment and to undertake fraud prevention checks.

Where we store your information

All personal information we have about you is stored on secure servers operated by JCB or its third party service providers. These third party service providers have access to your personal information needed to perform their functions, but may not use it for other purposes. JCB ensures that these third party service providers will only process your personal data in accordance with this policy and applicable Data Protection legislation.

Where you are provided with a password which enables you to access certain parts of our site, you are responsible for keeping this password secure and confidential.

Your personal information may be transferred to JCB offices operating in countries outside the European Economic Area (EEA) or may be processed by JCB’s third party service providers based or operating outside the EEA. Your personal information will be held in the Parts Online system and, where we have corresponded with you via email will be held within our relevant IT systems, for an indefinite period for us to manage our relationship with you and to improve the site and its content. JCB will carry out periodic data cleanses of this information to ensure that it is up to date and accurate and to remove any obsolete data.

Your rights

You have the following rights in connection with your personal information processed by JCB:

  • Access – you can request access to your personal information and further details about how your personal information is handled by JCB
  • Object – you have the right to object to our processing of your personal information for direct marketing purposes or where the processing isn’t necessary for the purposes of the contract between us or legitimate interests pursued by JCB or by a third party
